Moses Brown: Quaker Abolitionist and Industrial Pioneer

Moses Brown was a Quaker merchant and entrepreneur active in New England from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. He supported the growth of the textile industry and the spread of water-powered spinning, helping drive early industrialization alongside Samuel Slater and others. Furthermore, holding a keen interest in education, he contributed to regional development in both industry and philanthropy, including his involvement in founding Brown University.
