Alfred Daniel King's Civil Rights Work
Alfred Daniel Williams King (A. D. King) was a Baptist minister and dedicated civil rights activist alongside his brother, MLK Jr. Facing severe hardships, including the bombing of his home during the Birmingham campaign, he remained committed to nonviolent direct action. He supported the SCLC, led local campaigns for open housing, and used his pastoral pulpit to fight racial inequality until his death in 1969.
