Andrew Jackson

An American military officer, lawyer, and politician. He served as a member of the House of Representatives and the Senate representing Tennessee, gained military fame during the War of 1812, the Creek War, and the First Seminole War, and became a national hero particularly for the Battle of New Orleans. He served as the 7th President of the United States from 1829 to 1837, establishing the foundation of Jacksonian Democracy. While praised for expanding political participation among common citizens, he also faces strong criticism regarding his forced indigenous relocation policies and his relationship with slavery.
