James Stockdale was a highly decorated US Navy Vice Admiral, Medal of Honor recipient, and POW survivor who famously served as Ross Perot's vice-presidential running mate in the 1992 US presidential election. His prominent participation in the vice-presidential debates introduced Stoic philosophy and military honor into national discourse, leaving a lasting legacy of principled leadership during a period of significant political realignment and post-Cold War transition.
