Eli Thayer
Eli Thayer was a 19th-century American educator, politician, and abolitionist who led the migration promotion movement to make the Kansas Territory a free state. He founded the New England Emigrant Aid Company and sent northern anti-slavery supporters to Kansas, making him a key figure in the "popular sovereignty" era who sought to influence the state's future through referendums.
