John Fitzgerald Kennedy
The 35th President, elected as the youngest in history, embodying the liberal intelligence of New England. In his inaugural address, he called on citizens to serve and expressed support for space exploration and the civil rights movement. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he successfully avoided nuclear war with the Soviet Union, paving the way for Cold War détente by signing the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. He passed away at the age of 46 following his assassination in Dallas, Texas, in 1963. His brief tenure, often called "Camelot," remains legendary.
