Prudence Crandall’s School Battle

Prudence Crandall was a 19th-century American educator and abolitionist who ran a girls' boarding school in Canterbury, Connecticut. She faced strong opposition for accepting Black women into a white girls' school, and despite pressure from state laws and the local community, she advocated for equal educational opportunities. Although the school was eventually closed, her pioneering educational activities against racial discrimination are highly regarded.
