Pushmataha’s Diplomatic Alliance

Pushmataha was an influential Choctaw leader who allied with the United States to protect his people's interests. He rejected Tecumseh's pan-Indian confederacy, led Choctaw forces during the War of 1812 and Creek War, and traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for Choctaw land rights.
