Günter Grass and National Conscience

A prominent German novelist, poet, and Nobel laureate who forced post-war Europe to confront its Nazi past through visionary and satirical masterworks like The Tin Drum. As an active public intellectual aligned with leftist politics, he relentlessly interrogated German collective guilt, historical responsibility, and the moral complexities of the Cold War division.
