Thomas Wentworth Higginson
Thomas Wentworth Higginson was a radical abolitionist active as a minister, writer, and soldier. He was involved in supporting John Brown and commanded one of the Union's early Black regiments during the Civil War, putting the philosophy of liberation into practice. After the war, he spread egalitarian ideas through memoirs and essays, and actively engaged in the women's suffrage movement and educational reform.
