Anthony Eden

Anthony Eden was a prominent Conservative politician and diplomat who served as Foreign Secretary during three separate periods, notably as Churchill's close foreign affairs advisor throughout World War II. Before the war, Eden resigned from office in protest against appeasement toward Mussolini's Italy. During the war, he directed Allied diplomatic operations. Later succeeding Churchill as Prime Minister in 1955, Eden's tenure was cut short by his controversial handling of the 1956 Suez Crisis, leading to his resignation the following year.
