The wife of President F. Roosevelt, she was a woman who left her mark as a global human rights activist, stepping beyond the traditional framework of "First Lady." During her husband's presidency, she served as the "eyes and ears" for her disabled husband, traveling tirelessly across the United States. She passionately advocated for the rights of the poor, Black citizens, and women, supporting the liberal side of the New Deal. After her husband's death, she served as a U.S. delegate to the United Nations and played a decisive role in the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Even after stepping down, she remained a great pioneer who fought for peace and equality throughout her life.
