Raymond Poincaré: Steadfast Leader of the Sacred Union

Raymond Poincaré served as President of France throughout the entire duration of World War I (1913–1920). In August 1914, he famously declared the Union Sacrée, uniting disparate political factions against German invasion. Though constitutional powers restricted his executive authority, Poincaré exercised tremendous influence by appointing capable wartime prime ministers, maintaining civil morale, and preserving state stability during severe military setbacks. Hailing from Lorraine, he strongly advocated for absolute territorial integrity and the recovery of Alsace-Lorraine, remaining a steadfast political symbol of French resilience and unwavering determination until final victory.
