Heinrich Himmler
Heinrich Himmler was the head of the Schutzstaffel (SS), Chief of the German Police, and one of the main architects of the Holocaust. Under his command, the SS grew from a small paramilitary unit into a massive organization controlling police forces, intelligence agencies, the Waffen-SS, and the vast system of concentration and extermination camps. Himmler personally directed the execution of the "Final Solution," overseeing the systematic murder of millions of Jews, Romani, and other targeted groups. Captured by British troops in May 1945 while attempting to escape, he committed suicide by swallowing cyanide.
