Joseph Warren: Physician and Revolutionary Martyr

Joseph Warren (1741–1775) was a Boston-born physician and one of the early leaders of the American independence movement. Connected with the Sons of Liberty, he supported anti-British activities and contributed to organizing militia forces. Immediately before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, he participated in combat as a militiaman and was killed in action at the subsequent Battle of Bunker Hill. Though he lost his life early in the Revolutionary War, his actions and sacrifice are remembered as a symbol of colonial resistance.
