Establishing Modern Experimental Chemistry
Robert Boyle was an Irish-born natural philosopher, chemist, and inventor who played a central role in establishing chemistry as an independent scientific discipline. Best known for Boyle's Law, which defines the inverse relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas at constant temperature, he strongly advocated for rigorous experimental methods. Through his landmark work, The Sceptical Chymist, he helped dismantle traditional alchemy, advancing a corpuscular, mechanistic model of matter and co-founding the Royal Society.
