Joseph Goebbels
Joseph Goebbels was the Reich Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda from 1933 to 1945, serving as one of Adolf Hitler's most influential and loyal henchmen. Controlling the press, radio, film, theater, and arts, Goebbels systematically indoctrinated the German public, promoted virulent antisemitism, and built support for Nazi war efforts and the Holocaust. During the war, he mobilized the population for total war, famously delivering the 1943 Sportpalast speech. Following Hitler's suicide on April 30, 1945, Goebbels briefly served as Chancellor of Germany for one day before he and his wife killed their six children and committed suicide.
