Ferdinand von Habsburg
Born in Spain in 1503, Ferdinand I became Archduke of Austria, King of Bohemia and Hungary, and ultimately Holy Roman Emperor following the abdication of his brother, Charles V. He played a pivotal administrative role in modernizing governance across Central Europe while defending the realm against Ottoman advances. Ferdinand was instrumental in negotiating the Peace of Augsburg in 1555, which established legal recognition for Lutheranism. Through pragmatism and diplomacy, he stabilized imperial institutions amidst intense religious and political factionalism.
