Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor
Born in Vienna in 1552, Rudolf II served as Holy Roman Emperor, King of Bohemia, King of Hungary, and Archduke of Austria. Raised in the Spanish court, he famously moved the imperial court from Vienna to Prague, transforming it into a world-renowned center for Renaissance art, astronomy, and alchemy. He personally patronized prominent scholars such as Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler. However, protracted conflicts with the Ottoman Empire, religious unrest, and rivalries with his brother Matthias eventually diminished his political power late in his reign.
