Harry Lloyd Hopkins

A politician who supported the New Deal and World War II as the highest confidant of President F. Roosevelt. During the Great Depression, he served as head of the WPA, creating millions of jobs and devoting himself to public relief. During the war, he negotiated directly with Churchill and Stalin as a presidential envoy, cementing Allied solidarity at the forefront of the Lend-Lease program. Serving as the President's "de facto vice president" through grueling battles with illness, he was the shadow chief administrator of the White House.
