Benjamin Franklin: Polymath Founder

Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790) was a leading politician, scientist, and inventor of the American revolutionary era. Leaving major achievements in the natural sciences, such as experiments demonstrating that lightning is electricity, he is also known for inventing the lightning rod. Politically, he contributed to the independence movement as a member of the drafting committee for the Declaration of Independence and worked tirelessly to establish an alliance as Ambassador to France. Demonstrating talent across diverse fields, he is highly evaluated as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
