George Washington: Father of His Country

George Washington (1732–1799) led the colonial forces as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War, making a major contribution to the victory for American independence. After the war, as the first president, he established the foundation of the new nation and conducted stable governance while suppressing political party conflicts. Furthermore, by declining a third term, he established the tradition of non-continuation of power, greatly influencing American political culture. He is highly evaluated as one of the Founding Fathers.
