Patrick Henry: Voice of American Liberty

Patrick Henry (1736–1799) was a politician and orator from the Virginia Colony who exerted a strong influence in the early stages of the American independence movement. Known for his speech advocating "liberty or death," his eloquence raised anti-British sentiment among colonists. During the American Revolutionary War, he served as Governor of Virginia, working hard to strengthen military readiness and support independence. Taking a strong Anti-Federalist stance, he also showed caution toward the strong central government of the U.S. Constitution. He played an important role in shaping American independence thought.
