Nathanael Greene: Savior of the South

Nathanael Greene (1742–1786) was a military officer who served as a Continental Army general in the American Revolutionary War. Involved in strategic planning as a close confidant of George Washington, he rebuilt the disadvantaged American forces, particularly on the Southern theater, through skillful guerrilla tactics and retreat strategies. Inflicting damage on British forces in battles such as Guilford Court House, he ultimately contributed to regaining the initiative on the Southern theater. He was an outstanding commander who also influenced the development of the U.S. military after the Revolutionary War.
