Alexander Hamilton: Financial Architect

Alexander Hamilton (c. 1755–1804) was a politician active from the American revolutionary era through the early Republic, laying the foundation for national finances as the first Secretary of the Treasury. Promoting post-war debt settlement, the establishment of a national bank, and the encouragement of manufacturing, he became a central figure of Federalism aiming for a strong central government. Participating in the U.S. Constitutional Convention, he was also involved in writing The Federalist Papers. He was a figure who greatly influenced the formation of modern American financial and political systems.
