Formulating Mechanics and Universal Gravitation
Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, physicist, and natural philosopher born in Woolsthorpe who stands as a titan of the Scientific Revolution. In his masterwork, Principia Mathematica, he formulated the three laws of motion and the law of universal gravitation, unifying terrestrial and celestial mechanics into a coherent mathematical framework. Newton also co-developed calculus, advanced optics through color spectrum experiments, designed the reflecting telescope, and served as President of the Royal Society and Master of the Royal Mint.
