Undefeated Tactical Command and the Iron Marshal’s Discipline
Louis-Nicolas Davout was one of Napoleon’s original Marshals of the Empire, renowned for his strict discipline, administrative efficiency, and undefeated record as an independent commander. Dubbed "The Iron Marshal," Davout secured legendary military victories, most notably at Auerstedt in 1806, where his single corps defeated the main Prussian army, as well as at Austerlitz, Eckmühl, and Wagram. He served as Governor-General of the Duchy of Warsaw and organized the Grand Armée for the Russian campaign. During the Hundred Days in 1815, Davout served as Minister of War and organized the defense of Paris, remaining widely regarded as Napoleon’s most capable military subordinate.
