Yitzhak Rabin's Command and Pursuit of Peace
Yitzhak Rabin
Yitzhak Rabin served as Chief of Staff during Israel's victory in the 1967 Six-Day War before transitioning to a prominent political career. Serving twice as Prime Minister, he navigated post-war security challenges in his first term during the 1970s. Re-elected in 1992, Rabin shifted toward peacemaking, leading negotiations that resulted in the historic 1993 Oslo Accords with the PLO and a 1994 peace treaty with Jordan. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize alongside Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat, Rabin was tragicially assassinated in 1995 by a right-wing Jewish extremist who opposed the peace process.
