Korechika Anami

Korechika Anami was a General in the Imperial Japanese Army who served as Army Minister in the Suzuki Cabinet at the end of the war. While representing Army hardliners demanding a decisive battle on the Japanese mainland, he maintained fierce debates regarding the preservation of the imperial system. Ultimately, Anami deferred to Emperor Hirohito's decision to surrender and restrained rebellious officers, effectively preventing a full-scale military coup during the Kyujo Incident. He committed ritual suicide on August 15, 1945, taking responsibility for defeat.
