William Clark: Explorer of the American West

William Clark (1770–1838) was an early American military officer and explorer known as co-commander of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Together with Meriwether Lewis, he surveyed vast regions from the Louisiana Purchase territory to the Pacific coast, leaving detailed records of geography, flora, fauna, and Native American cultures. This expedition laid the groundwork for America's westward expansion policy and greatly influenced subsequent territorial development. Following the expedition, he served as Superintendent of Indian Affairs and in other roles, contributing to frontier administration.
